Urban Octopus: Find Your Soul

I first found Urban Octopus this past May at CycLAvia, an event where the streets of downtown LA are closed to cars and instead are open to cyclists, giving Angelenos an opportunity to experience the city from a new perspective. Before I knew the name, I was drawn to the Urban Octopus booth by the array of colorful art resourcefully hung along a parking lot gate.

I had already thought the art was fantastic...then I saw the octopus!

Each pair of shoes are hand painted by myself using bright, contrasting acrylic paints, and sprayed with a clear matte finish sealant as well as a clear water & dirt resistant spray. Shoes used are plain white canvas by City Sneaks. Since each pair is hand painted, no two are EXACTLY alike, making each of them unique.

Right now I am only working with canvas styled shoes, but if you are interested in having this design on a Vans shoe, or in mens, please contact me for more information.

Also, please specify shoe size in order. Sizes 6-10 available for women. (***Please keep in mind that these particular shoes run a little large. For example, I wear a size 9 1/2 normally, but the size 9 fits better.***)

On a whim, I decided to Google "Octopus Couture" and this is what appeared at the top of the list:



The images feature an octopus-inspired get-up from the Vecona Fashion Show that took place in November 2008 in Brugge, Belgium. The clothing has a sort of whimsical turn-of-the-century Victorian vibe. And of course, tentacles go great with that!
