Councillors are to meet to discuss the potential arrival of a giant octopus-inspired building in Chiswick.
The Chiswick Area Committee is to meet tomorrow evening to consider a planning application for the five-storey building off Chiswick Roundabout.
Developers London and Bath Estates, the brains behind London’s Gherkin, hope the £52m office block, which will project advertising to drivers on the M4, will become a sculptural landmark to mark the gateway to London.
Managing director Kim Gottlieb said: “I’m confident it’s the right solution for the site. It’s a very interesting piece of architecture.”
However the plan has already been met with objection from the Brentford Community Council, which believes the site is not suitable for a high building.
The Highways Agency has also raised concerns that the advert screens could distraction to drivers and create a “serious highway safety hazard”.
The meeting takes place at 7.30pm, in Chiswick Town Hall, Heathfield Terrace.
